Common
Questions & Answers

What are the benefits of the programs?

All of our young innovators have an opportunity to develop analytical and problem-solving skills that will help them excel in middle and high school.

Students have fun making new friends while designing and building their own games, toys, and robots.

Introducing kids to STEM subjects early will equip them with the skills they need to thrive later in life, as STEM occupations are projected to grow by almost 11% by 2031, over twice as fast as the growth for all occupations.

What ages are the programs designed for?

Our ‘Robo Junior’ and ‘Simple Machines Junior’ programs are designed for children aged 6 – 8. All our other programs welcome ages 8 – 14; no previous experience is needed.

What is a 'Try It,' and how is it different from the other programs?

Our ‘Try It’s’ are low-cost one-hour trial sessions where a kid can experience what one of our programs would be like before committing to an entire multi-week program.

Who teaches the courses, and what are their credentials?

At Young Innovators Robotics Labs we have a team of motivated, enthusiastic instructors and mentors that are excited about STEAM!  All our instructors have hands-on experience in the STEM industry. They also complete criminal record checks, first aid training, and teacher training to effectively teach STEM subjects to children.

Why is the registration on a recreation centre website?

All our programs are vetted and delivered in collaboration with local recreation centres. When registering for our courses, you will be taken to the recreation centre’s website to complete the registration.

What type of curriculum do you use?

Our programs align with the Applied Design, Skills and Technologies Curriculum (ADST) certified by the B.C. government.

This curriculum encourages students to reflect on ‘Why?’ questions when making decisions, while promoting creativity and critical thinking skills.

Our curriculum also caters to multiple learning styles, including auditory, visual, and hands-on approaches.

What locations do you have programs in?

We have programs in Langley, Abbotsford, Mission, Delta, and online.

If you want us to set up a location in your city, email us at info@younginnovators.ca to let us know.

Are there different levels to the programs?

No, the courses do not have to be taken in any particular order. This allows students to sample different topics they’re interested in more deeply.

However, our Robo Junior and Simple Machines Junior programs are designed for ages 6 – 8, and all our other programs are designed for ages 8 – 14. This helps ensure the students receive the right amount of challenge for their age group and encourages our young innovators to establish a strong foundational understanding of engineering and building concepts.

What are all the programs you offer?

Note: Your kid doesn’t need to complete the Junior programs (Robo Junior and Simple Machine Jr) to register for the other programs.
