Kid-Friendly Things to Do in the Fraser Valley This Spring and Beyond

Kid-Friendly Things to Do in the Fraser Valley This Spring and Beyond

The sun is (finally!) making more appearances, the cherry blossoms are popping up across the Valley, and that familiar spring energy is in the air. It’s the perfect time to get out and explore with your kids.

But let’s be real – spring weather in BC is unpredictable. One minute it’s sunny and warm, the next you’re dodging rain showers. That’s why I’ve put together a mix of outdoor adventures and clever indoor activities to keep everyone happy, no matter what the forecast throws at us. Whether you’re searching for kid-friendly things to do in Abbotsford, or kid-friendly things to do in Langley, or kid-friendly things to do in Mission BC, you’re in the right place!

1. Visit the Abbotsford Tulip Festival

The Fraser Valley is famous for its spring blooms. Head to Lakeland Flowers for the Abbotsford Tulip Festival for stunning tulip fields. Kids will love all the room to explore, and it makes for an amazing family photo. If you’re looking for kid friendly things to do in Abbotsford this spring, this is a top pick.

2. Explore Campbell Valley Regional Park in Langley

This is a gem. Easy walking trails, a historic townsite, and plenty of space for little ones to run. Bring a picnic and let them spot frogs near the pond. It’s free, close to home, and feels like a real adventure – easily one of the best kid-friendly things to do in Langley when the sun is out.

3. Go on a Spring Geocaching Hunt

Turn a regular walk into a treasure hunt. Geocaching is like a real-world Easter egg hunt, but with your phone. There are dozens of hidden caches across the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver. Kids love the thrill of finding something, making it a fantastic option for kid friendly things to do in White Rock, kid friendly things to do in Delta BC, or kid friendly things to do in Maple Ridge.

4. Check out our 1 Day STEM Workshops

If your child has ever been curious about how things work or you just want to try something different, check out one of our 1-day, low-cost workshops where they actually build something real. We run these across Langley, Abbotsford, Mission, White Rock, Tsawwassen, North Delta, and Maple Ridge. So no matter where you live, your kid can join in on the fun.

Build a Solar-Powered Mini House

In this workshop, kids will assemble a 3D-printed mini house, build their own working circuit, and power it using a real solar panel. They’ll also decorate and customize their house while learning about renewable energy, sustainability, and green technology in a fun, engaging environment.

3D Print a Flower Pot for Mother’s Day

Looking for a Mother’s Day gift that’s thoughtful and unique? Check out our upcoming 3D printing workshops where kids will design a custom flowerpot while learning key design concepts. In the second session, they will receive their 3D-printed creation, sand it, and paint it.  No experience needed – just curiosity and creativity.

Or Try a Pro D Day Camp

Let your kid dive into coding, robotics, or longer STEM challenges on school closure days. These aren’t passive activities. Kids come home with something they built themselves, and you get to see if they love it—without committing to a full multi-week program. We offer Pro D Day workshops in Mission and Langley.

5. Visit a Local Recreation Centre for Indoor Fun

Who says rainy days have to be boring? Local recreation centres offer a ton of affordable indoor activities for families. Think public swimming, skating, and “Roaming Rascals” indoor play areas where little ones can climb, crawl, and burn off energy.

Best part? Many of these activities are free in Delta for kids with the YAK Pass (Youth Activity Key Pass). It’s a fantastic way to get out of the house without breaking the bank. If you’re searching for kid-friendly things to do in Delta BC on a drizzly afternoon, this is a hidden gem.

6. Visit a local Library

Your local library offers tons of children’s books and often hosts free activities too. It’s warm, quiet, and surprisingly fun for kids who like a calmer outing. The Maple Ridge Library especially has many upcoming activities like Crafternoon!, Kids Dungeons & Dragons, and Storytime, making it a perfect spot in Maple Ridge without spending a dime.

So, What Will You Try First?

Whether your kid is chasing tulips in Abbotsford, building a solar house at our 1-day workshop, or geocaching in White Rock, there’s no shortage of kid friendly things to do in the Fraser Valley this spring.
