“PrintHERS: Empowering Girls in STEM” is a dynamic free project designed to inspire and empower girls aged 12-15 through an immersive 3D printing experience. We had the opportunity to collaborate with one of our city community members on this unique project. The purpose is to ignite a passion for science and technology by introducing participants to the basics of 3D printing in a free three-hour workshop led by experienced volunteer mentors.
The project goes beyond the workshop by distributing free take-home kits containing essential materials, encouraging further exploration in STEM, including coding with a Microbit project. This unique aspect extends the learning experience, allowing participants to delve into coding, electronics, and creative problem-solving at home.
“PrintHERS” breaks gender stereotypes, fostering an early interest in STEM and empowering girls to see themselves as capable contributors to science and technology. With a focus on inclusivity, the project aims to create a positive change by promoting diversity in STEM education, contributing to a more inclusive and diverse future. We are thrilled and honoured to be a part of this fantastic initiative!
Ultimately, “PrintHERS” catalyzes sustained interest in STEM, inspiring girls to envision themselves as future innovators and contributors to the exciting world of science and technology.
